The probationary period serves as an extension of the selection process. It provides time for the new employee to adjust to the duties and expectations of the position, as well as allows the supervisor time to ensure the new employee can satisfactorily meet performance expectations before granting permanent status. This workflow will allow the employee's probationary period to be extended past the initial probationary period established upon hire. This workflow can not be used to extend an employee's probationary period if the end date for that employee's probationary period has already passed.
Double click on the Probation, Performance Management and Employee Competency Assessment Container.
Double click on the Maintain Employee Probation workflow.
1. Double click on Department Name.
2. Select applicable employee from list of names available.
3. Drag and drop up to the Person ID field.
4. Click OK.
1. Type the number of days to extend the probationary period in the Period Field under the Employee Probation Information group box. This number should equal the original probationary period plus the extension period. The number of days can only be increased in increments of 30 days (i.e. 90+30=120, 90+60=150....).
2. Verify that the UOM is set to days.
3. Type comments justifying the extension.
From the File menu, select Save.
Note: If you need to view the employee's performance ratings for a previous evaluation period, please use the Performance Appraisal Ratings History form located in the section with the Maintenance form.
