Requesting and Terminating System Access

Obtaining Access to EPAWeb

Access to the EPAWeb Personnel Action System is accomplished using a web page called Human Resources Central. Human Resources Central requires the user to have both a UNC-Chapel Hill ONYEN and a FACS ID. The FACS ID is used for user-setup purposes only and not for login. The login process uses the ONYEN and the associated ONYEN password. For more information on getting an ONYEN, click here. For more information on obtaining a FACS ID, click here.

Access to EPAWeb also requires a set-up procedure that is performed by the HRIS Help Desk. Requests for set-up is accomplished using one of several forms, linked below, depending on the specific nature of your request:

- If you need to add, modify, or delete access for a specific individual user to EPAWeb, Click Here.

- If you need to modify routing for a Department/Center that already uses EPAWeb, Click Here.

- If you need to modify routing for a School/Area office that already uses EPAWeb, Click Here.

If you need assistance in determining which form to use, contact the HRIS Help Desk by calling 962-HELP and indicate that you need assistance with the EPAWeb System or submit a Remedy ticket by pointing your browser to https://www.unc.edu/ar-bin/websub/index.pl.

Onyen

"Onyen" is the name for the identifier you use to gain access to various electronic resources on campus. Although it is a word, you can think of it as an acronym for the "only name you'll ever need." In fact it's the same old "ATN UserID" you've always had, but the distinctive name is intended to prevent confusing it with the myriad other user ids that exist across campus. Several factors make it stand out from these other user identification schemes:

With these factors in mind, Onyens represent a significant part of the commitment by Information Technology Services to provide equitable campus-wide access to a range of ITS services. As technology permits, Onyen based access will be used for an increasing number of services both within ITS and across campus.

The ITS document, ITS Onyen Policy, outlines the policies, standards and terms of agreement associated with Onyens.

UNC students, staff and faculty can use the Onyen home page to create and manage their Onyens, to subscribe to Onyen services, and use Onyen functions.

The Challenge-Response Password Reset System is a service that provides a way for you to change your own Onyen password -- even if you've forgotten it -- without having to get help from the IT Response Center. For more information concerning this service, click here.
