Network Access Requirements

HR Central allows access to a great deal of confidential and protected information under North Carolina law. To comply with these laws and to protect our employees’ information from unauthorized access and identify theft, we have taken extra steps to secure physical access to HR Central. Typically, access to the system is blocked from workstations that are not physically connected to the UNC-Chapel Hill campus network; however, an exception to this policy is granted to Search Committee Members. Because search committee members are allowed access only to the applicant materials for the searches they are a part of, search committee members may access their requisitions from any computer—on or off campus.

In rare cases, Search Committee Members may have access to additional HR Central applications (EPAWeb, Position Management, ARP, BMS). For these applications the following restrictions still apply:

  • Access from off-campus locations or personal residences, directly or via a connection to an on-campus workstation, is strictly prohibited except under highly unusual circumstances and then only with special approvals (Note: External Search Committee Memebers are set up for this access).
  • Any requests for special arrangements should be directed to the Director of HRIS Support. Special requests for at-home access must be made under the signature of the senior administrative official of the School, College, or Division from which the request is made (e.g. Dean, Assistant Dean for Administration, Associate Vice Chancellor, etc.).
  • Campus units/departments with off-campus University owned or leased space that is not directly connected to the campus network are permitted access, and special technical arrangements can be made by contacting the Director of HRIS Support.

*Attempts to access HR Central from any off-campus location, except in the circumstances described above, will be considered a violation of University policy and may result in a suspension of all HR Central access privileges and appropriate disciplinary action. Please address any questions regarding this policy to the Director, HRIS Support Department.*

Browser Requirements

HR Central access requires Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater. Other browsers are not supported, and may cause unexpected results.

ACCESS

Internal Search Committee Members (individuals currently employed by UNC or UNC students) use their existing Onyen and password to login to RecruitmentWeb. The Onyen home page is available to create and manage an Onyen, subscribe to Onyen services, and use Onyen functions.

External Search Committee Members will be notified by the search department’s HR Facilitator when a PID (personal identification number) and Onyen have been assigned to them. The external Search Committee Member may then access the Onyen home page to manage their Onyen, subscribe to services, etc.
