Current Data Section

The current data section displays the applicant’s contact information in the standard application format as of the date the application was submitted. Again, the Applicant Information section above will always be the most current.

For security reasons the Social Security Number will not be displayed.  If needed for verification purposes, users should contact the assigned HR Generalist to discuss.

Additional Names Section

The Additional Names section is most frequently used when verifying professional credentials and education, and conducting criminal history checks.

State SPA Employment Status Section

The State SPA Employment Status Section is used by the Office of Human Resources to determine the applicant type and priority level. This information will  not be modified if the applicant made an incorrect selection. Therefore, users should refer to the “App Type” and “Priority” columns on the View Applicants screen and Selection Document to ensure candidates are given proper consideration during the hiring process.

Other Information Section

The Other Information Section includes additional information, such as cover letters and resumes, which the applicant can attach to their application.  With the exception of the criminal conviction check, these forms are not required to complete an application.  Forms with a check mark next to them indicate that the underlined form has been submitted. To access the form click on the blue underlined title of the document you wish to view. The criminal conviction check will be completed for any selected applicant, and will not be accessible until the selected candidate has been identified on the Selection Document.

Criminal Convictions Section

If the applicant indicates yes to the first question in this section, they must also complete information concerning the type, date, and location of any and all convictions.  It is important to remember that criminal convictions in and of themselves are not reason to refuse consideration during the hiring process. However, failure to accurately disclose all prior convictions may be considered falsification of the application, which may result in withdrawal of an offer or termination of employment from UNC Chapel Hill. Additionally, applicants who falsify any application information may be placed on the Do Not Refer list for a specified period of time, prohibiting them from consideration for hire until the specified period of time has elapsed.

For more information on the regulations, rules and procedures for criminal conviction checks, click here.

Employment Eligibility Section

The Employment Eligibility Section prompts the applicant for information concerning their US citizenship, veteran status, and relationships to employees at UNC-Chapel Hill.   This information will be used by the Office of Human Resources to determine employment eligibility.  The last question concerning the applicant’s relationships with employees at UNC-Chapel Hill specifically deals with the topic of nepotism within the workplace.

Education and Training Section

The Education and Training Section of the application is used by the Office of Human Resources to determine whether an applicant qualifies for the position for which he/she applies.  If the Driver’s License number is required by the position, the applicant must provide this number in the space provided.

Application Supplements Section

Supplement forms provided by the applicant will be available here for access by users. These supplements may be used by the Office of Human Resources and departments to obtain more specific information regarding the applicant’s qualifications.  Forms with a check mark  next to them indicate that the underlined supplement has been submitted. To access the supplement, click on the blue underlined title of the document you wish to view.

Work History Section

The Work History Section is completed by the applicant and provides a detailed history of previous employers for which the applicant has worked, as well as contact information, dates of employment, reasons for leaving, and the specific job duties performed while working in each position.  This information should be used to determine whether the applicant is qualified for the position, and when conducting reference checks on applicants under consideration for hire.

Equal Opportunity Pledge

The Equal Opportunity Pledge section states the University’s commitment to a non-discriminatory hiring process.  Department representatives must honor this pledge at all times during the recruitment and selection process. Those completing the Selection Document will be required to check a statement guaranteeing the department has complied with all such requirements.

Application Certification

The Application Certification section is mandatory and states the applicant acknowledges the electronic application will be subject to verification. The certification also forewarns applicants of the consequences of providing false or misleading information.
