"Onyen" is the name for the identifier you use to gain access to various electronic resources on campus. Although it is a word, you can think of it as an acronym for the "only name you'll ever need":
With these factors in mind, Onyens represent a significant part of the commitment by Information Technology Services to provide equitable campus-wide access to a range of ITS services. As technology permits, Onyen-based access will be used for an increasing number of services both within ITS and across campus.
The ITS Onyen Policy outlines the policies, standards and terms of agreement associated with Onyens.
UNC students, staff and faculty can use the Onyen home page to create and manage their Onyens, subscribe to Onyen services, and use Onyen functions.
University employees wishing to access SPA RecruitmentWeb as a Department Coordinator, should contact their department's FACS Coordinator and request a FACS ID be setup for them. The following website provides instructions for requesting FACS ID’s:

Anyone requesting access to SPA RecruitmentWeb as a Department Coordinator
must first complete the mandatory training offered by HR Services. For more
information, or to schedule a training session, please contact your assigned

Access to SPA RecruitmentWeb should be requested using the RecruitmentWeb
Access Form. Send completed form with Department Head signature to your
assigned HR Generalist at
Roles within the department consist of a Department Coordinator, Department Approver, and Department Interviewer. There are also School-level roles that mirror the department-level roles: School/Dean Coordinator, School/Dean View, and School/Dean Approver. Additionally, the Department or School/Dean Coordinator can grant access to Hiring Managers via the Hiring Supervisor field on the SPA Recruitment Requisition in HRIS, and to individual members of interview/selection committees using the “Maintain Interview Committee Access” function in SPA RecruitmentWeb. Each of these roles is used to designate an individual as being a reviewer, coordinator and/or approver for specific activities in the recruitment process for permanent SPA positions within the assigned department.
